Ireland Launches New Gambling Regulatory Authority to Revamp Laws and Protect Consumers

Ireland’s government has taken a significant step towards updating the country’s gambling laws by establishing the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI). Under the new laws, stricter limitations on gambling advertisements are being enforced. Gambling ads are prohibited on television, radio, and on-demand platforms between 5:30 AM and 9:00 PM to protect young viewers and individuals susceptible to gambling addiction.

Minister O’Callaghan hailed the launch of GRAI as a ‘new era’ in Irish gambling regulation, emphasizing the importance of striking a balance between consumer freedom and protective measures.
